Pentecost

Let The Fire Fall (Lyrics)

Holy Spirit, (Holy Spirit), come with Your fire,
Holy Spirit, (Holy Spirit), come with Your fire,
Holy Spirit, come with Your fire,
Holy Spirit come with Your fire.

Refrain:
Come Holy Spirit, let the fire fall,
Come Holy Spirit, let the fire fall,
Let the fire fall, let the fire fall.

Holy Spirit, (Holy Spirit), set my life on fire,
Holy Spirit, (Holy Spirit), set my life on fire,
Holy Spirit, set my life on fire,
Holy Spirit set my life on fire.

botanical gardens with Misty 136This kinda falls under the whole, “God writes straight with crooked lines” or “God knits and quilts, and crochets and paints and dances”
Years ago I attended charismatic conferences as the volunteer recruiter for a small organization. This was always the song that I was ready to hear.
The word is love – to be consumed with love. The fire that burns away the chaff – the stuff that gets in the way of our ability to see God, to love our neighbor for who they are and quite bluntly to love ourselves, to see our selves (and our neighbor) the way God does. The fire (love) of the Holy Spirit allows us to see when we need to make changes in our lives – not in the finger-pointing/accusatory/you’re bad kind of way – in that whispering, gentle, loving kind of way.
As a quilting teacher I long for my students to be loving with themselves, to appreciate the hard work of others and recognize that they are on a unique quilting journey – not mine, not the quilter sitting next to them in class who seems to have it easy peasy, not the quilter who just won best of show (who could easily point out every single flaw in the quilt given the opportunity and the right audience).
As a quilting teacher I long for my students to “get it” but I know that for most of us that “getting it” is a bit of a struggle and I’ll walk beside you whispering in your ear, “you can do this!” and calling you out on being so hard on your self!
As a quilting teacher I want my students to be successful, but I’m not going to define what that means for you. You know your goals and dreams, you know where you want to be as a quilter, I’m help along the way.

Now, go quilt your world!
