Beautiful – MercyMe
The days will come when you don’t have the strength
When all you hear is you’re not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart they’d see too much

You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are made so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You’re beautiful

And praying that you have the heart to find
Cause you are more than what is hurting you tonight
For all the lies you’ve held inside so long
And they are nothing in the shadow of the cross

You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are made so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You’re beautiful

Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You’re the one He madly loves
Enough to death

You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
In His eyes

You’re beautiful
You were meant for so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You’re meant for so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His

For some reason unbeknownst to me I was awake at 2 this morning. Ridiculous I know, particularly when it’s a travel day. I know I’ll get through and do just fine later.

This song runs through my head periodically. Sometimes I focus in on what I *think* others *think*. What I think they think is irrelevant and a waste of good time and energy. This kind of thinking often robs me of great joy and yet, sometimes it’s there and present in my mind. This kind of thinking can do more harm than good causing either severe ego inflation or causing me to think worse of myself than is true or even necessary.
I’m reminded of one of the phrases written in an autograph book I had in my early teens, “I’m okay, God doesn’t make junk”.

And this popped up in my fb feed. Colbie Caillat singing Try. Ignore the ad that comes up with it. Colbie’s song is beautiful. It contains the essence of what I was thinking. Be yourself, your beautiful self.  This is a pep talk to me as I once again head out into that great big quilting world. Be me. Work hard because I enjoy the work.
Part of this necessary pep talk comes from feeling somewhat insecure about the upcoming presentation. I sent it to a friend last night who is a quilter, teacher, blogger and all around lovely person – she assured me it’s good. I had to stop telling myself saying it needs to be better. I know my subject. I know why I chose it. I’ve worked hard on the power point presentation and have a back up plan in mind if something goes screwy.
I have a quilt to stitch on during my demonstration time, with thread and extra needles. I’m golden!

Why am I stressing and doubting? Because I’m human and I can make mistakes and when I do, they’re usually doozies.

But

God is good! All the time.

God bless!

  1. Some of the “doubts”/second guesses are really just the anticipation of what’s ahead and once you begin the session will vanish and you will be totally “in the moment” and lovin’ it! I won’t tell you to just relax and go with the flow ‘cuz you sound just like me (including all the thought threads!) and some of this serves to “sharpen” us for the presentation (for w/o this we lose excitement and that ‘edge’ we need to be ‘on our game’!!!!)!!!!! Enjoy (I know you will!!)………hugs………

  2. Our lives are so very different. But in each of your trials and reflections you are always sending me a timely message or lesson from our Heavenly Father. Thank you for being an instrument in his hands…..Huggggs

  3. You ARE golden, sweetie. And remember that whenever we make a mistake, it reassures those around us that it’s OK for them to also make a mistake, and to embrace our humanity and the process of learning. I hope all goes well for you this trip!
